Gary Hill Releases New Book of Wormwood Chronicles Articles
Released on February 5th "The Dark Starr Files: Articles Originally Published At Wormwood Chronicles - Volume 1" features articles that originally appeared in the ezine "Wormwood Chronicles."
By: Gary Hill
The description of the book says, "From 1998 until the end of 2018 Gary Hill contributed articles to a zine called "Wormwood Chronicles" under the pen-name 'Dark Starr.' Now that the zine has ceased publication it seemed a good idea to archive all the articles. This first volume includes humorous roasts of some Rockford area eateries, movie reviews, concert reviews, one spooky article about the creepy side of the Rockford area (sort of a precursor to "Spooky Rockford") and a number of interviews."
There are going to be a total of three books in the series, compiling virtually all of Hill's articles for Wormwood Chronicles. The second book will be released on March 8th and feature CD and video reviews of music artists whose names start with the letters "a" through "K." The final installment, with the rest of the music reviews, will be published on April 9th.
Wormwood Chronicles was the creation of Rockford writer Mike Korn under the pseudonym "Dr. Abner Mality." It started as an print zine distributed regionally. It eventually shifted to the web and continued to flourish. In 2018 Korn made the decision to end Wormwood Chronicles by the end of the year. While the site remains at wormwoodchronicles.com, there are no new articles being published there now.
Hill made the decision to publish the articles as books to preserve them in the event of the future complete demise of the website. Hill has been publishing Music Street Journal (musicstreetjournal.com)
The new book is available in paperback at lulu.com/strangesound and will be soon at Amazon.com and other book retailers. A hardcover edition is available exclusively at lulu.com/strangesound.
