-- Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce invites all doing business in the region to their next Innovate & Caffeinate membership meeting taking place at The Mainland/Holiday Inn at 151 Rt 72 E Manahawkin beginning at 8:15 am. The event includes networking, buffet breakfast and a program to kick off the chamber's new Coastal Resiliency Committee. The breakfast will feature a seasonal strategies panel focusing on Coastal Resiliency " What Businesses Should Know".
The program will be looking beyond an environmentalist perspective, this discussion relates to how all businesses including retail/dining, recreational and professional services can use resources to understand potential impact of coastal changes. The panelists will give an overview of what projects are currently underway and how to stay informed so positive solutions are developed. Introduction : Rick Bushnell, President Reclam the Bay - Why Businesses will be better off with expanded knowledge of trusted resources and update on Army Corp of Engineer Back Bay Studies Mayor Nancy Davis, Borough of Beach Haven will touch on Local Case Studies addressing topics including how pocket parks and how town is looking to resolve local flooding issues. Dr Amy Williams, Stevens Institute and NJ Sea Grant Consortium will present Online tools for your businesses that includes Mapping, DEP information, living shoreline and tidal tracking. The chamber will also highlight the new committee and the resource that their website www.visitLBIregion.com is providing as a clearinghouse for updated studies and information.
