United Premier Soccer League Announces North Carolina Expansion with Atletico Olanchano FC

LOS ANGELES - Jan. 29, 2019 - PRLog -- The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to welcome Atletico Olanchano Futbol Club as a new league member kicking off with the 2019 Spring Season.

Based in Rose Hill (N.C.), Atletico Olanchano FC will begin UPSL play in the Southeast Conference Mid-Atlantic North Division, and will host its UPSL home games at Charity Middle School (1333 W. Charity Rd., Rose Hill, NC 28458) in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards.

United Premier Soccer League Southeast Conference Mid-Atlantic Division Manager Andy Salandy said, "The UPSL Southeast Conference Mid-Atlantic Division is starting to explode with quality teams that have pedigrees as winners. We are very excited to have Atletico Olanchano FC join the Southeast Conference and our UPSL platform as we continue to grow."

Atletico Olanchano FC has been undefeated the last three seasons playing locally in Clinton (N.C.), while also winning three trophies over the last three years in Liga Sabatina de Fayetteville (N.C.). The club also claimed the Raleigh (N.C.) Copa Latina tournament in 2017.

Mario Lizardo is Owner and Head Coach of Atletico Olanchano Futbol Club. A native of the Olancho region of Honduras, Lizardo established Atletico Olanchano FC in 2000.

Jorge Acosta, 33, is Spokesman for Atletico Olanchano FC. Also a native of Honduras, Acosta, 33, played in the Honduran second division and trialed at DC United (MLS).

Atletico Olanchano FC Spokesman Jorge Acosta said, "We have a lot of players with a lot of experience and some young players, too, and this is the right time to motivate them to step up to another level. They'll have a good opportunity to get better playing in the UPSL because it's the best and fastest-growing league across the country, and there's a good chance to play regional and national competitions. We want the challenge and we're looking forward to playing in the UPSL Mid-Atlantic Division."

The club will announce tryout dates and its upcoming UPSL game schedule.
