DURANGO, Colo. - Jan. 23, 2019 - PRLog -- The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad (D&SNGRR)™ (http://www.durangotrain.com/), which offers distinctive year-round rail experiences and special events to passengers of all ages in the remote, scenic wilderness and high-mountain landscape of Colorado's San Juan National Forest, today announced ticket prices, the excursion schedule, and special guest locomotives for its 2019 winter photography weekend, Feb. 15-18.

This year's winter photography tours are particularly appealing to shutterbugs and railfans alike, as they will offer once-in-a-lifetime access to two special, historically-significant locomotives. Appearing at this event for the third consecutive year, the famed Galloping Goose No. 5 motor, owned by the city of Dolores, Colorado, will ride the D&SNGRR rails in the winter for just the third time in over 60 years. Additionally, attendees will get to shoot and ride behind legendary oil-burning Southern Pacific Locomotive No. 18 (SP18), built in December of 1911 by world-renowned Baldwin Locomotive Works, and on loan to the railroad until June by the Eastern California Museum (http://www.inyocounty.us/ecmsite/index.html) in Inyo County, California. This will mark the first time the "The Slim Princess" is available for passenger excursions since its arrival in Durango in November of 2018.

"The D&SNGRR's annual winter photography weekend has become one of our more popular events of the year because of the unique winterscape shots, aerial perspectives, and exclusive set-ups it offers to attending photographers," said Allen C. Harper, head of the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, and chairman and chief executive officer of American Heritage Railways. "With the addition of special guest locomotives Galloping Goose No. 5 and SP18, this promises to be an unforgettable weekend, and one which will produce the most amazing photography imaginable. The footage we annually see from our winter and fall photography events is absolutely incredible."

During each winter photography weekend excursion, photographers will have multiple opportunities to capture amazing images of Galloping Goose No. 5, SP18, and the D&SNGRR's entire fleet of locomotives and the surrounding terrain in remote wilderness areas between Durango and Cascade Canyon. Additionally, attendees have the option of participating in several night shoots, during which various locomotives will be staged in the railyard and on the turntable for incredible footage.
