Soroptimist International of Dallas will host a half-day workshop for secondary school-age girls, where they will learn about career opportunities, setting and achieving goals, and overcoming obstacles to success. The Dream It, Be It event will take place on February 2, 2019 at Messenger Studios in Addison from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Girls and their parents/guardians can learn more and sign up for the program by contacting sidallasevents@
Throughout the day, the girls will attend sessions based on the following topics:
• Discovering your dreams
• Exploring careers
• Creating achievable goals
• Rising above obstacles
• Turning failure into success
• Balancing your stress
• Putting dreams into action
"Because we know that young girls are facing a variety of challenges during their teens, the skills developed throughout the day can be applied to a spectrum of life issues and career goals that the girls will identify," said Dream It Be It chairwoman Theresa Ream. "The girls will also have the opportunity to network with working women in a variety of careers."
In addition to learning important life skills, the girls will also leave with a backpack and school supplies to help them be effective in starting the 2018-19 school year.
Dream It, Be It joins with the long-running Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women to create the "Soroptimist Dream Programs," which provide sustainable, measurable change for women and girls, and ensure they have access to the education and training needed to reach their full potential and live their dreams. The Live Your Dream Awards assist women by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and job prospects.
