BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - Jan. 18, 2019 - PRLog -- The February half-term holiday is the perfect time to treat the family to a break in the New Forest National Park in Hampshire.

There are cottages of all shapes and sizes and activities galore for children of all ages, from kayaking on the Beaulieu River to visiting exciting museums, or perhaps just enjoying a crispy wintery walk with the family four-legged friend, learning about the ancient trees of the New Forest with free information available from the New Forest Heritage Centre in Lyndhurst.

Here is just a small selection of self-catering properties that are available this coming half term…

The Old Post Office (https://www.newforestescapes.com/property/the-old-post-office/) at Keyhaven (near Milford-on-Sea) is a seaside and pet-friendly holiday home which sleeps eight people (plus room for two babies) in four bedrooms.  Sleek and chic, the property is surrounded on two sides by seaside views. To the left, the little blue boats in the Keyhaven boat harbour, and to the front the bird-filled salt marshes of the Solent. The WWII fort Hurst Castle, and the chalky Isle of Wight Needles are two miles away across the sea.  A week's stay from 15 February costs £1702 or £1135 for three nights.  Visit www.newforestescapes.co.uk.

Kingscliffe Cottage (https://www.newforestcottages.co.uk/holiday-cottages/king...) at Bashley is a classic 'chocolate box' thatched, cob cottage from the 1700s.  Sleeping four people in two bedrooms, the property is within walking distance to child-friendly pubs, and a 15-minute drive to the coast to enjoy fossil hunting or perhaps a visit to Highcliffe Castle followed by fish and chips!  A week's stay over the February half term period costs from £503.  Visit www.newforestcottages.co.uk.

Upper Kingston Farm (https://www.upperkingstonfarmcottages.co.uk/) is a rural working farm near the market town of Ringwood in the north of the forest, which has two family-friendly cottages available for half term.  The characteristic Victorian farm buildings have been carefully restored and each sleeps four people in two bedrooms (one double, one twin).  Each bedroom has an en-suite.  Less than 15 miles from the sea, there is a host of sports and activities available to keep all age groups happy; whether it's a day at the beach, horse riding through the forest or deep-sea fishing.  A week's stay from 15 February costs £580.  Visit www.upperkingstonfarmcottages.co.uk.

Forester's & Keeper's Cottages (https://foresterscottages.co.uk/) are two holiday homes on Cottage Farm on the edge of the New Forest and east Dorset. The two, detached, and individually designed properties, are rated 4* self-catering cottages, and sleep four and five people respectively (plus a cot).  The location offers a choice of country and coastal pursuits, miles of lovely walks, off-road cycling, forest adventures and great facilities for all ages and just a walk away from Moors Valley Country Park. A week's stay from 15 February costs from £490 or £290 for three nights.  Visit www.foresterscottages.co.uk.
