Opera Naples Presents Comedic Opera L'isola Disabitata (the Deserted Island)

 
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Jan. 17, 2019 - PRLog -- Opera Naples will be presenting the Joseph Haydn charming opera, L'Isola Disabitata (The Deserted Island), at the Wang Opera Center on February 21 and 23, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.

This opera takes place on a tiny deserted island. Disheartened Constanza and her younger sister, the innocent Sylvia, abandoned for 13 years by Constanza's fiancé, Genandro, get a big surprise when he returns after escaping captivity at the hands of pirates and tries to resolve the misunderstanding.

Conductor Ramón Tebar will lead a chamber orchestra with Theatre Zone's Mark Danni as stage director and the members of Opera Naples' 2018-2019 Resident Artist program, chosen from a pool of over 200 applicants, will perform the principal roles.

The role of Constanza will be played by Mezzo-soprano Megan Moore, an established artist originally from Ohio. Moore has performed in several operas in her career including La Cenerentola, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Serse and more.

Enrico will be played by Baritone Sunyeop Hwang from South Korea who has previously sung principal roles in Don Pasquale, La bohème, Cosi fan tutte, and Le nozze di Figaro.

Silvia will be played by Soprano Kellie Motter. Praised for her "moving, involved expression," the Atlanta-born soprano is becoming known as a versatile artist in repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary.

The role of Gernando will be played by Tenor Achilles Bezanis. Bezanis has performed in The Light in the Piazza, L'Heure Espagnole, and Carmen.

Tickets for reserved seating to the performance are currently available for purchase, ranging from $35-95.
