He further talks about the reasons, why many people fail in their New Year Resolutions & How you can be smart & Achieve your goals. According to Dr Nayak, you can be successful in achieiving your fitness goals in 2019, if you keep the following tips in mind.
1- Make SMART goals SMART means, SMALL, MEASURABLE, ATTAINABLE, REALISTIC & TIMELY. So don't make impossible goals like losing 20 kgs in 2 months. You are bound to fail. Rather make easy goals like Losing 4 kgs a month, for next 5 months. Also Pat yourself & celebrate, at each step. It will act as motivation for you, to keep going. Also make small Goals around events like Your Birthday, Marriage Anniversary, Marriage function, etc. So Remember, always have a reason to lose weight & become fit.
2- Know your constraints in advance, and plan accordingly. For an eg- If you have a busy work schedule & you take a Resolution to go to GYM daily. It is bound to fail in few weeks. Rather Make Goals Like 30 Min Brisk walk thrice a week & 30 Min Exercise at home, thrice a week, which looks more Realistic, to fit in your schedule
3- Make Peace with your Trigger Foods. So don't make Resolution like- I will not touch chocolate for the entire year, which is difficult to achieve, if you love chocolate. Rather, reduce the Quantity & Frequency. Or Avoid stocking chocolate at home. Out of sight is out of mind.
4- Don't get demotivated, with setbacks. Always remember that 'Some Progress is better than No Progress". If you were losing 4 kgs a month, and in this month, you only lost a kg, then don't lose hope. You are on the right track. Challenges do come in between. But with Focus & Dedication, you can still move ahead
5- We spend lot of time with our Phone, these days. So, Use fitness apps for food diary, pedometer, healthy recipes & Much more. In today's fast paced life, we need instant access to keep us motivated.
6- Rather than Saying No to Unhealthy Foods, Say Yes to healthy Foods. So there will be no space left, for Unhealthy foods. So stock your fridge & cupboards with only healthy foods. So whenever you are hungry, it will be easily available & also, entire family will become Fit.
7- Form a support group or Make Fitness buddies. Share your New Year Resolutions with your Best Friend or Your family member or Your Spouse or your colleague & support each other in the fitness journey. Remember motivational thoughts can make a lot of difference.
