Can Alterations be Done in a Week?

Let's face it, finding a good place to alter your wedding dress is TOUGH.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Jan. 14, 2019 - PRLog -- Scan any wedding forum and you're bound to find a panicked bride asking if wedding dress (or bridesmaid) alterations can be done in a week.

The obvious answer? It's far from optimal. In general, most experts suggest you allow 4 to 6 weeks, minimum, for alterations to be done, and the more fittings you can schedule near your wedding, the more likely you'll be satisfied with those alterations.

It all comes down to just how extensive alterations are (and if you can book a last minute appointment). If it's a week out, don't expect a dramatic transformation. But it is possible that small alterations can be made, such as lowering or lifting a neckline, as long as it's not complicated.

Of course, just how extensive last minute alterations are will depend on the bridal boutique. Any dramatic changes, such as changing a hemline, adding a good deal of fabric, or adding details like stitching or beadwork cannot be reasonably completed within a week.

The best bet is always to plan ahead, and have alterations ordered with a little more than a month. If you do find yourself in a last minute emergency, don't panic: simple things can be done to achieve closer to the fit you need.

One of the best things you can do is talk to an in-house seamstress (https://diamondbridalgallery.com/contactus/), who can guide you or what can or cannot be accomplished in a short time.
