Innovative Smart Home Technology Business Comes to Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Jan. 7, 2019 - PRLog -- Remember that futuristic cartoon, The Jetsons? There was a lot to love about that quirky, utopian world filled with cool tech designed to make daily domestic life that little bit easier—from fold up, briefcase-sized cars to cheerful dog-walkin' robots.

If you weren't born in that era, grab some funyuns and check this out.

While all the tech was cool, if you twist their arms hard enough, most Jetsons fans are going to tell you their favorite glimpse into that optimistic, primary-colored future was that awe-inspiring, tech-drenched home.

Doors opened at your bidding. Delicious food fell on your plate at the press of a button (ok at the yank of a lever, but you get the idea). Most nerdtopian of all, any entertainment option you could hope for, technology could make happen for you—like a bleeping, blooping genie with telescopic claws for arms.

Clearly, something about this vision of the future stuck. We're getting close to seeing a lot of these things happen! For the last five or six years, a dizzying array of home-enhancing technology has burst with sleek, touch-screen enhanced abandon into the tech market place.

A brand new genre of technological wizardry known as "smart home tech" has emerged. And consumers have noticed.

A 2018 survey (http://insights.gfk.com/study-the-2018-gfk-smart-home-study) of the US tech market found that nearly six in ten US consumers believe that smart home technology has the potential to change their lives within the next few years.

Which is all well and dandy. But what has any of this turgid technotopian twitter to do with Chattanooga?

Enter Michael Pemberton, a local technology enthusiast and a man with a plan.

Given its vast potential, it's perhaps surprising that specialized businesses dedicated to spreading this new wave of exciting home tech are virtually non-existent in Chattanooga. Early next year, Michael will address this hole in the local tech market by starting a local home technology franchise—Home Technology Pros.

"I wanted an opportunity to bring the 'technology trade' to Chattanooga. My 91-year-old grandmother uses an iPad, iPhone, and a Roku streaming box," Michael said, describing his excitement about starting a home tech business.

"She is an example that every single person is our potential customer. She doesn't understand how this technology works but it doesn't matter, she doesn't have to. Being able to take a complicated thing and make it simple to understand and use is key."

The key to making home technology this accessible, Michael believes, is building a business which combines several tech services into one approachable, all-encompassing service.

"We are the first in the area to aggregate this range of services together into one service," Michael explained.

"If it's technology, we want to help you install it, maintain it, learn to use it. We want smart home technology which actually make lives simpler, more secure, less cluttered, and more enjoyable—all at the same time. And we think we can make that happen."

One of the biggest challenges of smart home technology is ongoing support.

While the technology is quasi miraculous and can make almost every aspect of home life easier—from home theater, to smart thermostats, to networked home entertainment—because so much of this technology is so new, it's essential to have access to a team who can help when you encounter something you don't quite understand.

This is why Michael believes Home Technology Pros is the best franchise to bring that Jetsons-like magic to Chattanooga.

"Home Technology Pros are experts at follow-up and support. There is never a worry because they're only a phone call away and are great at making sure everything continues to work as the customer expects."

Which led to the inevitable (and probably kind of corny) question.

Is that Jetsons home experience something we'll actually be able to experience any time soon?

"Sure! Well the home entertainment and convenience part anyway. Not sure we'll be seeing dog walking robots any time soon!"

Automated canine walkers notwithstanding, Michael greatly looks forward to drawing from his local business savvy and passion for technology to make Chattanooga's homes and businesses smarter.
