Donald L. Detwiler Receives ACPA's Hartmann-Hirschman-Egan Award

NEW ENTERPRISE, Pa. - Jan. 7, 2019 - PRLog -- The American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) recognizes Donald L. Detwiler, of New Enterprise Stone & Lime Company (New Enterprise, Pennsylvania), as the 2018 recipient of the ACPA Hartmann-Hirschman-Egan Award.

This award is the most coveted award presented by the ACPA. The award recognizes individuals, companies, and organizations for unparalleled commitment, dedication, participation, and leadership in the concrete pavement industry.

Detwiler has been Vice Chairman of New Enterprise Stone & Lime Company since June 23, 2011 and served as its Chief Executive Officer from 1992 to March 2013. Detwiler served as the President of New Enterprise Stone & Lime Company from 1990 to June 23, 2011. He has been a Director at New Enterprise Stone & Lime Company since 1972.

Among his many accomplishments, Detwiler has served as Chairman of the ACPA Board of Directors in 1979. He was instrumental in the establishment of the ACPA Northeast Chapter in 1987, which was the first affiliated ACPA Chapter. He served as the first Chairman of the ACPA Northeast Chapter, the predecessor organization of the ACPA Pennsylvania Chapter (ACPA/PA).  Detwiler was also elected as the first Life-Member of ACPA/PA.

"He is among Pennsylvania's most forward thinking, innovative, and determined professionals in the transportation community."

The Hartmann-Hirschman-Egan Award, first presented in 1968, is named in honor of the late Harold W. Hartmann in recognition of his service as the ACPA Secretary-Treasurer from 1964 to 1974, the late Robert E. Hirschman (formerly of York, PA) in recognition of his term as the ACPA Chairman in 1967 and as Secretary-Treasurer from 1975 to 1987, and Edward A. Egan in recognition of his term as the ACPA Chairman in 1986 and as Secretary-Treasurer from 1988 to 2007. More information about this award can be found at
