PHOENIX - Jan. 3, 2019 - PRLog -- McCarthy Building Companies Inc. ( pleased to announce that Mike Gonzalez, director of McCarthy's Southwest region, has been tapped to serve as the chair for the Arizona chapter of the Design-Build Institute of America effective Jan. 1, 2019. He will be transitioning with the current Chair Wylie Bearup, PE, Ph.D, a professor at Arizona State University's Del E. Webb School of Construction.

Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, is a membership organization founded to advocate and advance single-source project delivery within the design and construction community. The design-build method of project delivery embraces architecture, engineering and construction services under a single contract, thereby reintegrating the roles of designer and constructor. In addition to public- and private-sector project owners, DBIA members include practitioners from all project phases.

"I am looking forward to stepping into this leadership role with DBIA's Arizona Chapter and continuing with the work that my predecessor Dr. Wylie Bearup has been doing," Gonzalez said. "Now that the Arizona chapter is established and there is a good amount of momentum for the effort, we are well-positioned to expand our educational efforts and show through examples how design-build has benefitted projects across the community, and help both owners, contractors, designers and the community to reap the rewards of high-quality design and construction while maintaining budgets."

Gonzalez has more than 27 years of construction experience managing design-build, design-assist and traditional construction projects servicing multiple industries, including life science, infrastructure, manufacturing, industrial, power, hospitality, healthcare, high technology and higher education. Although the majority of his experience has been in operations, he also has extensive experience in business development and preconstruction. Gonzalez has dedicated his career to delivering exceptional results for clients and partners from early in the design phase through final project completion and beyond.

"We welcome Mike in his new leadership role within the organization and look forward to him promoting the use of integrated, team-based project delivery through his prominent role with the construction community," said Diane Anglin, DBIA Western Pacific Region president.
