DENVER - July 31, 2019 - PRLog -- Rob Bacon is the licensed general contractor for his company Fox General Contracting and he wants to explain the kitchen remodeling process. Rob Bacon said, "I have had a lot of consumers say that they want to know more about the kitchen remodeling process so I thought I would post this blog about kitchen renovation. So here goes. The first step to any renovation is to have a contractor come to your home and give you a consultation as to what it will take to remodel your kitchen, consult you on the project budget, find out what you really want in your new kitchen, appliance choices, flooring, lighting, and the new kitchen layout. We give the homeowner an itemized labor estimate for the labor involved with the project. My company does not mark up construction materials for your project so this definitely saves you money. After you have approved our labor estimate we then send in our 3D Computer Room Planner to your home for your In Home 3D Computer Room Planning Appointment. Our certified room planner will plan your new kitchen on computer so you can see what the finished project will look like upon completion before we start the project. This will give you a great vision of your project. At the end of this project you will have a set of plans to start your project. Next is my favorite day which is Demo Day! We bring in a dump trailer to the job site, and we dispose of cabinetry, old appliances, construction debris, flooring, and etc. If we are going to demolish a wall then we call in our Structural Engineer to inspect the wall or walls to be removed. If the wall is determined to be non load bearing then we continue with the wall tear out. If the wall is determined to be load bearing then we will install a wood or steel support header as per the Structural Engineers wet stamped report. An open floor plan is what everyone wants these days. Once demolition is complete then we bring our referred electrical company to perform the electrical rough in. The rough in consists of pulling old switches, outlets, and lighting. New wiring for appliance installation will be wired at this time. Once the electrician is finished than its time to seal up the drywall and install new flooring. I believe the flooring should be installed under all the cabinets to support the weight of granite or quartz. Once the flooring is installed it is time to install the new cabinetry. This usually takes a couple of days to install the new cabinets. Now you are ready for the countertop template appointment. Template is just a cool word for countertop measuring. Most walls are not square or plumb so bringing in laser equipment to measure exactly where the new countertops are installed is a must. The homeowner will choose what type of countertop edging they will choose and other items like waterfalls and countertop overhangs. Most countertop companies take from two to three weeks to fabricate and install the new countertops. Fox General Contracting has countertop vendors that have huge countertop selections, and they get our countertops installed in 5 days from the template appointment. That makes for a lot quicker kitchen renovation for we know its hard to not have your sink and dishwasher during this process. Once the countertops are installed then its time for the backsplash to be installed. Glass and subway tile are favorites for backsplash but we install whatever material the homeowner chooses. Electrical switch plates are installed and then the final punch list is performed like painting and etc. Please remember that this is the process for a basic kitchen remodel and no two kitchens are alike. I hope this gives you the general plan to remodel your new kitchen and I hope it moves you forward in remodeling your kitchen. Have fun with it and know that in the end remodeling your new kitchen or bathrooms is the easiest way to increase the value of your home.
