WEYMOUTH, Mass. - Dec. 20, 2018 - PRLog -- South Shore Habitat for Humanity (http://sshabitat.org), which has delivered quality housing in partnership with families in need for the past 32 years, has elected Sharon A. Mutrie of Bridgewater, MA as President to its Board of Directors.

As such, she will work with fellow officers, board members and Executive Director Martine Taylor to further the organization's work to help provide housing for people in need. Since its founding in 1986, South Shore Habitat for Humanity has completed 57 homes in 21 towns, helping more than 100 adults and 200 children build a place to call home. The organization serves 35 cities and towns south and southwest of Boston.

Mutrie is the Vice President of Sales at Bay Copy, a document imaging solutions company serving the region since 1972. Mutrie joined the firm in 1987, and works with the company's major accounts. She additionally oversees the recruiting, training and supervising of the company's sales force.

Mutrie holds a degree in Criminal Psychology from The University of Southern Maine. An active member of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, she is the former Chair of the Chamber's ATHENA Program and a member of the Board of Directors of Fontbonne Academy. In addition, she volunteers at local schools and homeless shelters.

"It is with pleasure that we announce Sharon as President of our Board of Directors," stated Martine Taylor, Executive Director of South Shore Habitat for Humanity. "Sharon joined our board in 2016 and has consistently demonstrated her wealth of knowledge and expertise in strategic planning and organizational development in both the for-profit and non-profit arena; her leadership on the board is of great value."

About South Shore Habitat for Humanity

The Mission of South Shore Habitat for Humanity is to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter by partnering with families in need of affordable housing.  Families put in "sweat equity hours" alongside local volunteers on the building of their home and purchase the home with a 30-year, affordable mortgage. Homes do have a deed restriction that maintains the affordability status of each home in perpetuity. Habitat Family Partners are selected through a competitive underwriting process based on their ability to pay, willingness to partner, and their need for adequate housing. South Shore Habitat for Humanity offers a "hand-up, not a hand-out," said Martine Taylor. "Habitat does not build these homes; the local communities do. We are so very grateful to all of our donors and supporters for their contributions and for making homeownership a reality for these families.

The organization's headquarters are located at 20 Mathewson Drive in Weymouth, MA but they serve 35 cities and towns south and southwest of Boston. To date, South Shore Habitat for Humanity has delivered 58 homes to local families on the South Shore. Currently, the organization has a strategic plan to build twelve homes by 2020, which is on pace to deliver another 58 homes in a little less than a decade. "The need for housing is critical. Together with municipalities, we can be a solution to the affordable housing crisis here on the South Shore," said Martine.
