G-dot & Born x Soulslicers - Drippin Soul (EP)

ROXBURY, Mass. - Dec. 18, 2018 - PRLog -- Boston rap duo G-dot & Born have joined forces with Swiss production tag-team Soulslicers to release their Drippin Soul EP, a lyrically and musically rich project that represents the best of what each act has to offer. On the vocal side, you have two talented and versatile emcees whose knack for spitting bars is complemented by their songwriting abilities. And production-wise, Soulslicers not only match their rapping collaborators, but also push them to new limits.

G-dot drove that point home when speaking on Drippin Soul and what he hopes listeners take away from it. "I'm hoping that people will hear how versatile we can be while we maintain the essence of what we originated from," G-dot explains, noting that this effort is capable of reaching the underground and the mainstream. "Also, it's like a trip around the world hearing the beats from Soulslicers with their unique style."

Unique is the perfect word for it, because Drippin Soul's instrumentals range from bluesy (lead single "Gettin By"), to incredibly melodic ("Don't Come For Me"), to straight-up grimy ("Pop Shit"). And even with that diverse beat selection, both duos keep the EP's sound cohesive and centered by delivering standout performances. That's particularly true with "Gettin By," which both rappers agreed was the best choice for the project's debut visual treatment, which is available now upon the release of the EP, courtesy of the directorial team at CEO Productions.

"It was easy choosing 'Gettin By' because everything about that record stands out, from the beat, lyrics, and melodies," Born says—and he's absolutely right. The guitars help set the tone while he and G-dot soberly reflect on the pain of doing whatever it takes to just stay alive. Other highlights, "Don't Come For Me" especially, show off their braggadocious side, while joints like "One a Piece" and "Gold" are pure bangers.
