She also taught domestic violence and sexual assault at the law enforcement academy.

After resigning from law enforcement due to medical complications following cancer surgery, Sheri J. Michel spent time traveling to visit family. She was later diagnosed with PTSD and a mild traumatic brain injury.

Sheri eventually started a small farm in northern Georgia, where she spends time with her service dog, Gunny, quarter horse Major and two small goats, Jeorgia and Jazmin. She enjoys walking through her woods, hanging out with her animals and basking in the peacefulness of farm life. Sheri has two children and two grandchildren whom she cherishes most.
