Sheri J. Michel's mesmerizing debut, 'Seasons of the Soul' addresses the critical subject of managing PTSD. Published by VMH Publishing, Seasons of the Soul unfolds the narrative of living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and firsthand experiences;  specifically the traumas from abuse, crime, and natural disasters. This book will speak to those affected by PTSD, as well as those struggling to understand and make sense of the constant battle PTSD sufferers face.

An Army veteran, former law enforcement detective and cancer survivor, during her career as a detective, Sheri's main focus was investigating sex assaults, child sex assault and abuse. She was a trained child forensic interviewer, hostage negotiator and a member of the child advocacy multi disciplinary team. She also taught domestic violence and sexual assault at the law enforcement academy.

"I am working toward overcoming the boundaries that the traumas I have witnessed have bestowed upon me. These are the seasons of spring and summer. I'm warm, focused, and living life. Then, like a bomb that bursts in an unexpected moment, winter or fall set it. I am again only focused on running.  I run through fields of emptiness, streams of blood, and clouds of haunted memories..." reads Sheri J. Michel's powerful, poetic and heart-wrenching debut, Seasons of the Soul.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder typically develops after a horrifying ordeal that has involved the threat of physical harm or physical harm itself. It can affect a person who was harmed or a person who may have witnessed a harmful event that has happened to a loved or stranger. It was first brought to the attention of the pubic in relation to the effect on war veterans, although it is not confined to just those in the service. Many Americans suffer from PTSD as a result of accidents, crime, abuse, and other trauma.

After resigning from law enforcement due to medical complications following cancer surgery, Sheri J. Michel spent time traveling to visit family. She was later diagnosed with PTSD and a mild traumatic brain injury.

Sheri eventually started a small farm in northern Georgia, where she spends time with her service dog, Gunny, quarter horse Major and two small goats, Jeorgia and Jazmin. She enjoys walking through her woods, hanging out with her animals and basking in the peacefulness of farm life. Sheri has two children and two grandchildren whom she cherishes most. Spending time with them brightens her days all the more. These are practical steps incorporated within Sheri's life. Readers can find comfort, relatability, and determine their best path through 'Seasons of the Soul.'
