Governor Henry McMaster appoints Dalton B. Floyd, Jr. to the Board of Trustees for Coastal Carolina University
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Dec. 18, 2018 - PRLog -- Dalton B. Floyd, Jr. will serve as gubernatorial appointee for Seat 16, At-Large and the Governor's appointee seat, respectively.
Coastal Carolina University's 17-member Board of Trustees comprises the Governor of the State or his or her designee, who is an ex officio member of the Board, one gubernatorial appointee from the state at-large, and 15 members elected by the South Carolina General Assembly to represent each of the state's Congressional Districts and the state at-large. The Board of Trustees holds regular meetings four times each year.
Dalton B. Floyd Jr. has served as a member of the Coastal Educational Foundation (CEF) Board of Directors since 2007. The CEF is the non-profit foundation that supports Coastal Carolina University. In addition, Mr. Floyd has also been a member of the Coastal Planned Giving Advisory Council (CPGAC) which assists the Foundation and the University in their planned giving efforts. The Floyd Family endowed a mentoring program at Coastal Carolina that has been in operation since 2004.
"While we will certainly miss Dalton being part of the Foundation Board, we know that the University is fortunate to have gained someone of his stature and experience as their newest Board Trustee," said Carl O. Falk, Chairman of the Coastal Educational Foundation.

Floyd is a former Chairman of the S.C. Commission on Higher Education, past President of the S.C. Higher Education Foundation and past Chairman of the Winthrop University Board of Trustees. He joined the Winthrop board in 2007 as an appointee by then Gov. Mark Sanford.
Dalton B. Floyd, Jr. is a native of Lake City, South Carolina. Mr. Floyd holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina and a Juris Doctor and L.L.B., cum laude, from the University Of South Carolina School Of Law. He served as a Captain in the United States Air Force from 1963-1966 and was certified as trial and Defense Counsel of the Judge Advocate General Corp for the United States Air Force. Today, Dalton Floyd is the founder and senior partner of The Floyd Law Firm PC and a member of the Adjunct Faculty at Charleston School of Law. Dalton's legal experience is vast and includes time as the Assistant Solicitor for Florence County and the attorney for the Carolinas Section of the PGA of America. Floyd was awarded the "Order of the Palmetto" by Governor Mark Sanford for his public service and contributions to the state of South Carolina.
