After recently legalizing marijuana, Canadian MPs have their radar set on sports betting, Says PayPerHead.com

Recently, several states of the US have already legalized sports betting including: Nevada, Delaware, New Jersey, Mississippi, West Virginia, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.

While non-legal states keep a close eye on legal sports betting states for success, Canadian members of parliament have also been taking diligent notes.

According to recent statements to the press, Canadian MPs are looking to be a key player in the movement of legalization, stating, "there's absolutely no reason not to be."  The platform of legalizing sports betting in Canada focuses on curbing the black market and providing revenue to deal with gambling addiction.

In 2016, an earlier effort to legalize single-game sports betting was held and ultimately failed with a 156-133 vote.

It's estimated the the sports wagering industry is a $10 Billion market in Canada annually. Brian Masse, a Canadian member of parliament, stated that the vote was a "huge missed opportunity…", forfeiting hundreds of additional jobs throughout his province and municipality.
