Throughout her career, she has spoken publicly on international development, agriculture, strategic partnerships and a host of other technical issues. We are honored to have Dr. Mukupa discuss the balance between government work, career and the difference between the two. More recently, Dr. Mukupa worked with the US Dept. of Agriculture, Foreign Agriculture Service designing and managing international programs and projects in developing countries while helping to reduce agricultural pests and diseases. She played a key role in leading capacity building activities for food security programs. She has also directed a $14M budget for the Office of Disaster Assistance and Global Health. As a gender specialist, Dr. Mukupa led discussion forums with various foreign and domestic government agencies. Her focus is on gender and food security. She managed partnerships on food security/gender development through the development and handling of interagency agreements with the United States Department of Agriculture and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Dr. Mukupa has served in the United States Peace Corps in the Republic of Macedonia as a Community Program Specialist to the European Union. She implemented the information sharing component of cross-border programs in Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Greece, teaching sustainable farming techniques to local women and serving as a technical advisor to programs. As such, she led a diverse range of stakeholders toward targeted goals of strengthening and improving policies and engaging government employees. She served as the point of contact leading communications while networking with the U.S. embassy and Peace Corps partners, and at the same time, secure funding for various projects. A key project was the design of the camp curriculum for which she prepared the camp's grant proposal then directed an all-girls camp for 80 children overseeing 24 camp staff.
