Nationally Recognized Housing and Community Development Team Launches Root Policy Research

Firm starts strong and lands four new projects out of the gate

DENVER - Dec. 11, 2018 - PRLog -- The nationally recognized Housing and Community Development team at BBC Research & Consulting (BBC) has branched off to form an independent firm, Root Policy Research, which will continue to specialize in community planning and housing research. With a more targeted identity and nimbler structure, Root Policy Research will further their commitment to providing clients with custom, creative, and high-value analysis and strategy.

"Root Policy Research was founded to help communities understand their housing, economic and cultural landscapes," said Heidi Aggeler, managing director and co-founder of Root Policy Research. "Building thriving communities is challenging work, more than ever, so we are thrilled to create a company dedicated entirely to helping organizations take on the challenge."

Working with government, nonprofit, and private sector organizations, Root Policy's studies and strategic policy consulting will focus on housing and community development, fair housing, economic mobility, child care and education, language access, and community engagement.

The team established their national profile as part of the research advisory group helping HUD develop the Assessment of Fair Housing (AFH) template and as members of HUD's AFH national training team. That reputation as seasoned professionals has made for an easy transition. In addition to several ongoing projects, begun while still a division of BBC Research, the firm has already landed four new city and county projects, including Austin; Baltimore; Denver; and Everett, Washington.

For instance, the team will be leading the Baltimore Regional Fair Housing Study to analyze how private and public policies and actions have limited housing choices for low income residents and people of color. And for Everett and Snohomish County, Washington, they will be developing a language access plan to help two public housing authorities better meet the needs of residents with limited knowledge of the English language through enhanced communications tools.

"Not only do we have expertise with a wide range of communities, housing markets, populations, policies and approaches, we are capable of leveraging scarce resources for the greatest possible impact," said Mollie Fitzpatrick, managing director and co-founder.

Root Policy Research is proud to join the growing list of Women's Business Enterprises (WBE) in the Denver area. Taking a page from their own practice, their company culture emphasizes volunteering and giving back to the communities in which they work.
