Teacher "Sick-Out" OUSD Teachers Sick and Tired of being Sick and Tired
Fremont High School teachers join others in refusing to report to work.
By: Fremont Tiger Troopers
Why are teachers ready to strike? For nearly 2 years, the Oakland Education Association has been bargaining with Oakland Unified School District for:
● A living wage so experienced teachers remain teaching in Oakland
● Smaller class sizes
● More student supports (nurses, counselors, psychologists, speech pathologists and resource specialists)
Although the district had a 30 million dollar surplus last year, it is claiming it cannot afford to make these improvements and invest in the success of OUSD students.
We are not willing to wait another 2 years. There are no schools without quality teachers. Many OUSD quality teachers will be "sick" tomorrow. Oakland teachers are demand better for our students who deserve it.
