Vice Mayor of City of West Miami with WMIFF Student Artist Honorees

-- Artist Chelsea Abella, a 16-year-old student at D.A.S.H. made her artistic debut presenting her poster titled "The Fancy Lady". Also, being honored at the event, were official logo artist 13-year-old Shaele Ortega and Digital Banner Artist, Camila Diaz both of West Miami Middle School with their proud Principal, Katyna Lopez-Martin, teachers, friends and family in the audience.
The young artists received a special pre-recorded "Congratulations"
message by veteran digital artist and film festival poster artist David Caines of the United Kingdom who was traveling and sending his message all the way from Tokyo. The event included special guest host, 16-year-old Marilyn Rosales, the reining Miss Miami Teen, City Queen for the National American Miss Pageant. Also, in attendance were Vice Mayor of the City of West Miami, Rhonda Rodriguez and community partners Sean Prospect, Director for Program Administration for FIU Allstars and Jami Martinez, Manager for the Miami-Dade Coalition for Community Education. Ms. Martinez noted how wonderful it was to see "students so young, yet with so much talent!" The film festival is still open for submissions with the regular Call for Entries deadline approaching at the end of December.
