"Prayer is the gift you give yourself" says Weiss

-- Holiday time is here. People trying to get gifts, making big lists for gifts, and rushing out to get even more gifts can create a lot of anxiety. That's where prayer can really help. Or so says Edward Weiss, author of the book The Golden Prayer
.For Weiss, we can remain centered at Holiday time by keeping God present. Weiss comments...
"It's fun to get excited about the holidays. It's fun to give and receive gifts, but it's not fun to become overrun with anxiety and stress. Here is where prayer comes to the rescue. It reminds us of just how much we are holding on. Once we're aware, we can let go and let God carry the burden."
Weiss, whose book The Golden Prayer
is currently getting lots of attention, says people worry about what will happen if they place God before the world. They worry about whether they'll still have fun, yet for Weiss, freedom is more important than being happy. Edward talks about this...
"In order to become free, we must put God before the world. As we do this, the world starts to lose its luster. A new relationship is being formed. One in which our joy comes from a constant source and not the world. We exchange happiness for freedom and hardly notice the difference."
