Former Brazosport Classmates Join Forces to End Human Trafficking

LAKE JACKSON, Texas - Nov. 30, 2018 - PRLog -- Two class of '85 Brazosport High School alumni have joined forces with the Lake Jackson Civic Center to teach families how to stay safe by using virtual reality technology.

Billy Joe Cain, a 25-year veteran of the high tech video game industry, and marketing and community events promoter Donna Winzenried found they were each trying in different ways to help kids survive. They combined their expertise to help families in their hometown.

Together, they work to improve youth confidence and expand family knowledge about human trafficking and other key areas. Cain began a nonprofit, Radical Empathy Education Foundation, to develop and distribute an educational program that blends traditional materials with an interactive virtual reality experience called "Trapped." It uses the power of VR to foster empathy for people who are tricked into becoming human trafficking victims.

On Friday, November 30, the Lake Jackson Civic Center will host an open community event from 5:30-9:30pm, where all attendees are invited to experience Trapped for free. Families can learn how easy it is to be manipulated and how to recognize and avoid danger.

While children use the VR experience, parents can watch a monitor and see the choices their child makes to solve the mystery of why and how something happened to the victim in the story.
