Sacramento Orthodontist to Surprise Local Child with Free Braces

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Nov. 29, 2018 - PRLog -- WHAT: Dr. Damon Szymanowski of Szymanowski Orthodontics will award a Sacramento-area child with free braces as part of his "Smile Up" community program. Szymanowski Orthodontics launched the program with the goal of giving back to the Sacramento community. This first "Smile Up" give back initiative was a free braces giveaway. The community was encouraged to nominate deserving individuals to receive free orthodontic care at the practice. The program will include several goodwill initiatives over the next year.

WHO: On Friday, December 7, Dr. Damon and his team, along with the winner's father, Shawn and nominator/former babysitter, Tiffani, will surprise the winner, 12-year-old Guinevere (who goes by Winnie) with free braces. All media are invited to attend for the surprise. Dr. Damon and staff from Szymanowski Orthodontics will be available for questions after the award presentation.

WHY:  Winnie was nominated by family friend and former babysitter, Tiffani for the free braces giveaway. Like many others who were nominated, Winnie's story touched the hearts of everyone at Szymanowski Orthodontics. Her father, Shawn, was diagnosed with colon cancer just a few months ago which has devastated the family. Tiffani took her father, Winnie and her brother into her home after it was clear Shawn would be unable to work while he fought cancer.  Tiffani explained in her nomination "I know this ortho care would bless their lives greatly and give Winnie confidence in herself and the chance to have a beautiful smile, which she will not have otherwise."

In a way, this is Tiffani's way of paying it forward as well. As a child, she too received free orthodontic care from Dr. Rolofson in Elk Grove and a $20,000 oral surgery to fix her smile. She says "I would not be who I am today without the program my mom found. Truly blessed and I would love to see Winnie have the same opportunity."

Dr. Damon and the team at Szymanowski Orthodontics are thrilled to give this life-altering award to Winnie in such a trying time in her family's life.
