Acts 4 Ministry To Host Fundraiser Featuring Blues & Roots Guitarist, Singer Brooks Williams

WATERBURY, Conn. - Nov. 29, 2018 - PRLog -- The non-denominational non-profit Acts 4 Ministry will host a fundraiser, "An Intimate Evening With Brooks Williams" featuring internationally-renowned classic blues and roots guitarist, singer and songwriter Brooks Williams. The fundraiser will begin at 7:00 p.m. and accommodate 50 attendees on Thursday, December 6 at Acts 4 Ministry's retail store and offices at 1713 Thomaston Avenue in Waterbury.

Identified as being "At the crossroads of blues and American roots music", acoustic guitarist and singer Brooks Williams, according to 'Blues In Britain' magazine, is "Setting new standards and a fresh direction for the blues." The 'Keys And Chords' online magazine states, "Brooks is creating a beautiful fusion."

Born in Statesboro, Georgia, a town made famous by the classic song "Statesboro Blues", Williams gained experience performing in small bars and coffeehouses of New York and Boston, following in the footsteps of Chris Smither, Rory Block, Shawn Colvin, Maria Muldaur, David Bromberg and Leo Kottke, all with whom he gigged with from time-to-time when he was starting out.

"Lucky Star", Williams' 28th solo recording, is already turning heads and making itself known on playlists worldwide with its' Second Line groove that runs throughout every track that would make the late Allen Toussaint proud.

Every year, Williams performs hundreds of solo and band shows throughout Europe, North America, and the United Kingdom and collaborates with such impressive fellow musicians as Hans Theessink, Guy Davis, Sally Barker, Boo Hewerdine, Paul Jones, and Rab Noakes. Williams is ranked among the Top 100 Acoustic Guitarists, and known as "a mean finger-picker and a stunning slide guitarist."

Williams is also known to possess "a beautiful voice that you just melt into," according to the Americana music news and reviews website 'AmericanaUK.' His voice earned him a nomination for Best Male Vocalist by Spiral Earth, one of the UK's most respected roots music publications.

'Down At The Crossroads' podcast writes, "Williams' original songs are typically sophisticated musically, and yet sound immediately familiar – a sign of a skilled songwriter."  His massive repertoire spans classic roots and blues, and he offers a unique version of Dave Alvin's "King Of California" followed by Williams' instant classic, "Gambling Man."

Brooks Williams has performed year-after-year on all the major stages, including The Birchmere in Virginia, The Guthrie Center in Massachusetts, The Tolbooth in Scotland, The Liverpool Philharmonic Hall in England, Meneer Frits in The Netherlands, Harvest Blues in Ireland, The Avalon Theater in Maryland, JazzLand in Austria, The Stables in England, and Blues Au Chateau in France. Plus the Fairport Cropredy Festival, Newport Folk Festival, Kerrville Folk Festival, Costa del Folk, Shrewsbury Festival, Celtic Connections, and the Glastonbury Festival.

Diverse recording labels that have signed with Brooks Williams include Signature Sounds, Green Linnet Records, Reveal Records, Solid Air Records, and his own Red Guitar Blue Music. He has learned the studio trade first-hand working with roots music producers such as Colin Linden with Blackie And The Rodeo Kings, and Bruce Cockburn in Toronto and with Phil Madeira having worked with Buddy and Julie Miller, and Emmylou Harris in Nashville.

Event host Acts 4 Ministry is a collaborative group of a volunteer board of directors, staff members and dozens of volunteers who desire to share God's love by meeting the comforting physical needs of others.
