About the author: Thomas E. Simmons is the author of eight books to date. He grew up in Mississippi, attended Marion Military Institute, the U. S. Naval Academy, the University of Southern Mississippi, and the University of Alabama. He has been an entrepreneur in the hospitality industry and a sales engineer with an international heavy industry as a port consultant. A pilot since the age of sixteen, he also served as commercial captain of a seventy-foot sailing vessel. He has flown professionally and participated in air shows flying aerobatics in open-cockpit bi-planes. He was honored with the prestigious FAA Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award. In 1959, he served as an artillery officer in Korea. He was honored for his literary works by a concurrent resolution of the Mississippi House and Senate. He currently has three non-fiction and three fiction books in print. His books have won two Gold Medals, one for Biography and one for History, and an award from the Mississippi Historical Society. Tom has traveled the world for business and pleasure. He lives in Gulfport, Mississippi where his wife, saint that she is, patiently abides him and two no-account dogs.
