The 18th Annual Dancing for Diabetes Show - $100,000 to the Diabetes Research Ins

ORLANDO, Fla. - Nov. 28, 2018 - PRLog -- The 18^th Annual Dancing for Diabetes showcase, held at the Bob Carr Theater on November 10^, 2018, drew a record crowd of over 1,500 guests and featured hundreds of Central Florida dancers - using their talents raising funds to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.  During the event, hosted by WFTV Meteorologist Brian Shields, a check for $100,000 was presented to the Diabetes Research Institute (https://www.diabetesresearch.org/) – the only national organization solely devoted to developing a biological cure for diabetes.

Types of Diabetes

There are three primary types of Diabetes (Type 1, Type 2 and Gestational).  Prevalence: In 2015, 30.3 million Americans, or 9.4% of the population, had some type of diabetes. The Orlando nonprofit Dancing for Diabetes (https://dancing4diabetes.com/) (https://dancing4diabetes.com/) focuses on Type 1 Diabetes which impacts approximately 1.25 million American children and adults. Type 1 Diabetes was once known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes. It is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin.
