Award-Winning Author/Chef Amy Riolo Initiates Fundraising Campaign to Benefit Food & Friends on #GivingTuesday

WASHINGTON - Nov. 27, 2018 - PRLog -- This #GivingTuesday, Chef Amy Riolo will celebrate giving by initiating a campaign to benefit Food & Friends.

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

"I have been cooking for benefit events and giving demonstrations of the Mediterranean lifestyle and diabetes-friendly cuisine at Food & Friends (https://www.foodandfriends.org/) for the past few years. I am inspired and motivated by their efforts not only to feed so many people in need - but to do it with their nutritional needs in mind. The care and attention to detail that they give supersedes anything I have seen in other organizations and even hospitals. The mission of Food & Friends (https://www.foodandfriends.org/) is to improve the lives and health of people with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses that limit their ability to provide nourishment for themselves by preparing and delivering specialized meals, providing nutrition counseling, and reducing social isolation to foster a community caring for men, women, and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses by preparing and delivering specialized meals and groceries in conjunction with nutrition counseling. In addition to her fundraising campaign, Chef Amy (http://www.amyriolo.com/web/) has also committed to donating her books and a private dining event to Food & Friends' annual fundraiser, Chef's Best, in Spring 2019.
