BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - Nov. 24, 2018 - PRLog -- Today, Saturday, November 24th is "Small Business Saturday", a day where Americans are urged to go out and buy locally from Main Street small businesses instead of big-box corporations.  Over the past few years, Small Business Saturday has begun to take on a shopping-holiday status of its own much like "Black Friday" or "Cyber Monday" has.

Today, Mayor Ted Green and a group of business leaders will visit three of East Orange's smaller business districts ― the Ampere Business District, Sanford Avenue Business District from Elmwood Avenue to Tremont Avenue, and Lower Central Avenue shops from Grove Street to 18th Street, stopping for approximately 30 minutes in each area.

A sampling of the Shop Small Business Saturday establishments visited were:

Ampere Business District:
Lloyd's Barber Shop, 97 4th Avenue
Lite & Soul Eatery, 64A 4th Avenue
In Da Kut Barber Shop, 64 4th Avenue

Lower Central Avenue Business District:
Quick Bites, 47 Central Avenue
People's Choice, 63 Central Avenue
Systahood Beauty Supplies, 61 Central Avenue
Brothahood Community Barbershop, 61 Central Avenue
Mike's Central Food, 59 Central Avenue

Sanford Avenue Business District:
Diane's Provisions, 164 Sanford Street
Nunez Supermarket Corp, 159 Sanford Street
Apache Wings, 155 Sanford Street

"Local shops are some of our favorite places to find great food and personal services.  Which is why members of Urban Essex Chamber of Commerce and other business leaders were happy to support Small Business Saturday and encourage East Orange residents and fans to 'shop small' this holiday season," says Anna D. Banks, Better Biz Better You columnist with Tap into East Orange and member of the Urban Essex Chamber of Commerce (UECOC).  "If millions of Americans shop small, it will be huge!"
