BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - Nov. 14, 2018 - PRLog -- Corinthian Travel has created a new, innovative itinerary, to deliver two, totally contrasting experiences, in the Sultanate of Oman, and on the lush, tropical 'Buddha's Island of Sri Lanka.

The two-week 'Oman and Sri Lanka (https://www.corinthiantravel.co.uk/destination/sri-lanka-holidays/oman-sri-lanka-holiday)' holiday provides a chance to combine the romantic land of Frankincense, with its deserts, castles and jagged mountains, with the pea-green hills, waterfalls, and tropical beaches of Sri Lanka.

With a population of under five million people, the Omani Sultanate was a powerful empire from the late 17th century, holding a strategically important position at the mouth of the Persian Gulf.  As its power declined in the 20th century, the sultanate came under the influence of the United Kingdom.

Today, the oil-rich Gulf state, is ruled by the Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said, following the overthrow of his father in 1970.

The first six nights of the holiday are spent in Oman, with highlights including spending a night under the impossibly-bright, star-lit sky among the dunes of the Wahabi Sands in the '1000 Nights Camp (https://www.corinthiantravel.co.uk/destination/oman-holid...)', discovering mirage-like oases, and a four-wheel-drive through deep and rugged palm-lined wadis.

A flight across the Arabian Sea and the contrast couldn't be more pronounced on the lush green island of Sri Lanka which, although less than a third of the size of Oman, has a population five times greater.

Highlights include exploring the colourful Pettah Bazaar and the historic Fort District in Colombo, a scenic drive through thriving towns to Nuwara Eliya, a trek through Horton Plains National Park, a tea plantation visit to observe the colourful pluckers at work, and a visit to a tea factory to learn about the art of making fine teas.

The itinerary ends with three days' R&R by the famous white, sandy beaches of Sri Lanka's south coast, staying at Coco Tangalla (https://www.corinthiantravel.co.uk/destination/sri-lanka-...)..

The holiday costs from £3545 pp (two sharing a room), which includes 13 nights' B&B (plus seven dinners), private transportation throughout, activities and sightseeing, entrance fees, flight between Muscat and Colombo, and a guide.   Long-haul flights extra (bookable through Corinthian Travel.
