FORT MYERS, Fla. - Nov. 14, 2018 - PRLog -- Naples' premiere opera company, Opera Naples, will be performing the Verdi classic, Aida, on Wednesday, December 19 and Friday, December 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Artis-Naples' Hayes Hall.

Opera Naples presents Verdi's Egyptian epic, with stunning costumes and sets in this fully staged production. An explosive tale of forbidden love, power and loyalty amidst the sorrows of war, Aida is known for its grand pageantry and the famous Triumphal March. Aida will be sung in Italian with English supertitles.

Opera Naples' production will feature internationally renowned conductor Ramón Tebar, Stage Director Chuck Hudson, a cast of international artists, a 100-member chorus composed of Opera Naples Chorus and the Symphonic Chorale of Southwest Florida, and the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra.

"I'm so excited to present, for the first time in Opera Naples' history, one of the most popular operas of all time," says Opera Naples' Artistic Director Ramón Tebar. "Aida has all the elements of true grand opera; dramatic arias, full chorus, dance and an exotic story."

The role of Aida will be played by soprano Svetlana Aksenova, internationally acclaimed for her performances as Lisa in The Queen of Spades at the Dutch National Opera, the title role in Rusalka at the Paris Opera, Madama Butterfly's Cio-Cio-San at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Norwegian National Opera and Royal Swedish Opera, and many more.

In the role of Amonasro (Aida's father, the King of Ethiopia), will be baritone Gordon Hawkins who has shared the operatic and concert stage with such distinguished artists as Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti. Hawkins recently appeared as Amonasro with Houston Grand Opera and Washington National Opera.
