EVERGREEN, Colo. - Nov. 13, 2018 - PRLog -- The staff of TallGrass Spa and Salon broke its record when, with the help of volunteers and donors from Evergreen and surrounding communities, they assembled and readied for shipment 256 care packages for soldiers serving in the Middle East.

"The outpouring of community support has been absolutely astonishing," said Melissa Rackliff, Director of TallGrass Spa. "From Bailey to Conifer to Evergreen and Black Hawk, the most amazing amount of donations was collected." Representatives of the Rotary Club of Evergreen contributed handmade drawstring bags stuffed with personal care items. Pre-K and second grade students at Evergreen's King-Murphy King Elementary School drew pictures and wrote thank you letters. Area individuals, service clubs and businesses donated hats, pashmina scarves, commuter coffee mugs, Leatherman knives, luxury spa supplies, and hand knitted scarves, gloves and caps, along with generous cash contributions to help cover postage. Then, volunteers dressed in red, white and blue arrived at Evergreen's Wild Game Entertainment Experience early on a November morning to pack the gifts into flat rate postal boxes.

Known as the Soldier Box Project, the care package campaign has been organized and sponsored by TallGrass for the past nine years, sending packages twice annually – at holiday time and again at Mother's Day/Father's Day. The shipment assembled for this holiday brings the total to almost 1,400 care packages for troops. Each Soldier Box serves approximately 10 men and women service members in harm's way.

Ms. Rackliff continues: "For all of us to come together and reach across the ocean to make an impact on the lives of our soldiers especially now, sandwiched between Election Day and Veterans Day, brings to mind how much gratitude we need to have for the freedoms we share every day." She says: "Nothing can replace that."
