RONKONKOMA, N.Y. - Nov. 13, 2018 - PRLog -- Recent tests by UltraFlex Power Technologies - provider of the most advanced digitally controlled induction heating solutions – were aimed at evaluating the process of melting copper wire using induction heating.

A 2mm thick copper wire had been used in the tests. The melting was done using UltraFlex proprietary 5 kW induction heating systems from the UltraHeat SM series. The UltraHeat SM is a compact induction heating system operating with either water-cooled or air-cooled remote heat station. An HS-4W, water-cooled heat station had been used in this test case.

The tests showed that using power of 1.47 kW to achieve the target melting temperature of 1,984°F (1084°C), it took mere 7 seconds to melt the copper wire. Besides being time-efficient, the induction-based melting was also energy and hence cost-efficient. With induction heating, it's not uncommon to be able to convert 90% of your energy into heat in the part.

Due to the lack of open flame, the process was completely safe, without requiring specific conditions. And since induction heating does not burn traditional fossil fuels, it did pollute the environment.
