LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. - Nov. 7, 2018 - PRLog -- dash design (www.dashdesign.net), a leading New York-based interior design and brand-consulting firm, today announced that its president and CEO, David Ashen, and Creative Director Evelyn Sherwood, will participate as panelists at two of the design industry's most distinguished conferences.

The events, BDNY (https://www.bdny.com) and HX: The Hotel Experience (https://www.thehotelexperience.com), will be held simultaneously at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York from November 11 – 12, 2018.

On Nov. 12, from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m., Ashen will take part in a panel discussion titled, "Looking at Senior Living Design as a Strategy," that will explore design and technologies in senior living and assisted living communities.

Ashen will share lessons learned on bridging and translating trends from hospitality to senior living design. Ashen has led the firm's expansion into the healthcare and senior living design space with projects such as the overall creative concept of two locations of the Friedman Diabetes Institute and the redesign of the lobby and ground floor corridors of the Silvercrest Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in Briarwood, Queens.

"Design is essential in creating an environment that is focused on and supports health and wellness," he observes. "As designers, we are removing the institutionalized lens that has dominated healthcare and senior living design and creating spaces that reinforce the mission of our healthcare and senior living design clients."

Evelyn Sherwood, creative director for dash design, will participate in a panel on November 12 from 12:00 – 12:45 p.m. titled, "The Future of Hospitality Design: Building Boutique Experiences at Scale." It will consider the implications that the growth of the boutique hotel industry has for hospitality design. Sherwood, who has more than 30 years of experience in hospitality design in both Europe and the U.S., brings the perspective of how design can create inviting spaces while telling the story of the clients' brands.

"The emergence of the boutique hotel is a wonderful opportunity for designers to explore new ways to create unique spaces and styles for their hospitality clients," says Sherwood, whose many hospitality projects include Moxy Washington DC, the Hotel Commonwealth, Boston, The Baronette Renaissance Detroit-Novi Hotel, Freepoint Hotel West Cambridge, Hotel 57 New York and W Union Square. "I am delighted at the opportunity to discuss this timely issue with other design professionals."

"Design is changing in response to changing needs of society," Ashen notes. "It is very exciting to exchange experiences and views on the latest trends in our profession with our colleagues."
