Chief Executive Of Hksar Carrie Lam Opens Britain's Shrewsbury School

CENTRAL DISTRICT, Hong Kong - Nov. 5, 2018 - PRLog -- Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam today presided over the opening ceremonies for Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong, the newest addition to Hong Kong's world-class education facilities for primary school children.

Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong is located in the Tseung Kwan O district of Hong Kong and offers a range of specialist facilities for children between the ages of 3 and 11.  It is a sister school of Shrewsbury School in the United Kingdom, which was established by Royal Charter in 1552.  Shrewsbury School in the UK is one of the original nine 'Great Schools' of Britain and has a tradition of excellence reaching to the time of the great British monarch Elizabeth I who supported its development and expansion to become one of the finest schools in Britain.

Chief Executive for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Carrie Lam said, "Hong Kong has always attracted the finest minds, and that is among the most important reasons why Hong Kong is such a great, global centre of commerce.  The addition of one of Britain's best reputed schools will immediately reinforce our attractiveness as a most-favoured destination for talent, and, in the longer term, as a place that cultivates talent."

"Shrewsbury Hong Kong's establishment is a part of the Hong Kong education Bureau's strategy to ease the shortage of international school places, which is particularly acute at the primary level, and to elevate the appeal of Hong Kong for the families of expatriate professionals."
