An expressive group showcase featuring over 50 members of Women of Indianapolis Arts (WOIA), opening in the Schwitzer Gallery of the Circle City Industrial Complex (CCIC) for the November First Friday Art Tour, from 6 - :9:00pm.

Admission is Free.

The exhibition in the Schwitzer Gallery, is located in the North Studios section of the Circle City Industrial Complex (CCIC).

The Schwitzer Gallery is located on the second floor of the North Studios in the Circle City Industrial Complex.

WOIA is an online group dedicated to raising awareness about gender inequality in the arts, as well as bringing together all of the women who contribute to the arts in Indianapolis. WOIA member and Full Circle Nine Gallery founder Joy Hernandez will be hosting the event, which will cover a wide variety of media, with each artist showcasing their own unique viewpoint and talent.

"WOIA was formed so female-identifying Indianapolis artists could come together, network, and share resources," said Katie Josway, the group's founder. "I love that members are using the network to make things happen amongst themselves. It was always meant to be a group, run by the group. And it's so rewarding to see that happen."

About Women Of Indianapolis Arts:
The group was founded in August of 2016 as a way for female artists to connect with one another and to share art opportunities in the area, plan events among themselves, and to give support to each other in an environment not always felt as welcoming as expected.

About D.  Del Reverda-Jennings:
The Indiana-based Interdisciplinary artist is widely recognized for her striking sculptural works which utilize a variety of materials including both non-ferrous and precious metals, stone, paint, natural materials, fiber, glass and more, as well as her compelling figurative work, paintings and provocative installations.

The award winning creators' ongoing practice celebrate women, depicting females who are in a state of self-discovery, insight, mystery, empowerment and affirmation, while exploring the complexities of biracial / multi-ethnic / multiracial-cultural identity, and personal/social identity.

Many references are obtained from spiritual and religious histories that have aesthetic traditions based in the African Diaspora.  She uses women's issues, the female body and the power it employs to investigate colorism and other stereotypical assumptions still found in contemporary culture.  Pervasive concepts in her work come from a range of personal influences including traditional and original personal symbolism which has evolved out of multi-racial and multi-cultural perspective reflecting African, American, African-American, Latin/Taino, and Native Alaskan cultures.

The Alaskan Native has participated in international art presentations showcasing her acumen and versatility in creating 2 and 3-Dimensional work, Installations, Painting, Jewelry Design, Functional~Decorative works, and as a published Author.   D.  Del Reverda-Jennings' work has been exhibited and is held in private and corporate collections internationally.
