LANHAM, Md. - Nov. 1, 2018 - PRLog -- Caribbean Cargo DC continues to deliver on its pledge to donate shipping services to charity organizations based in the Mid-Atlantic through its Back-to-School Packing Party during the month of August. The community outreach event resulted in a new partnership with Friends of Puerto Rico: a D.C.-based nonprofit that "bridges economic development through social impact investors, philanthropists, and innovation". Friends of Puerto Rico is a non-partisan 501(c)(3) social impact organization based in Washington, D.C. The nonprofit's mission includes mobilizing a network of over 30,000 donors and partner organizations to create an economic and innovation hub in Puerto Rico by leveraging its network to invest in the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs.

Friends of Puerto Rico is co-founded by Angelique Sina who also serves a President. She was appointed by the Mayor of Washington, D.C., Muriel Bowser, as the Commissioner for the Latino Community and was chosen as a "Changemaker" at the White House United State of Women. Born and raised in Aguadilla, she is an alumnus of the Stanford Business University Latino Entrepreneurship program. She extended her gratitude for the support Caribbean Cargo DC provided through the donated shipment of 11 laptops to the children in Puerto Rico who are still in need after the devastation felt from Hurricane Maria in 2017. "We are blessed to have the partnership of Caribbean Cargo DC that allows our work with Puerto Rico a possibility. Caribbean Cargo provides us with the bridge to ship our Caribbean islands and we are forever grateful for their support," Sina stated in her recent testimonial after working with the shipping company.

In a letter of thanks addressed to Royston DeSouza, CEO at Caribbean Cargo DC, Sina also stated, "The children you were able to impact have had major losses post-hurricane Maria; they were abused and abandoned and live in government houses." She went on further to share that Caribbean Cargo DC's support "will provide an important studying tool for these children… Most importantly, it shows them that there are people who care about them and their future."

Understanding that there are children in Puerto Rico who needed support to continue their studies, DeSouza was happy to extend the offer to waive the shipping fee for the laptops. Upon establishing the partnership for the donated shipment to Puerto Rico, DeSouza stated, "Our children are our future.... To the extent that Caribbean Cargo DC can assist in working to ensure that future, we are pleased to be involved in this worthwhile project"

Prior to his involvement with Caribbean Cargo DC, DeSouza led a remarkably distinguished business career at The Washington Post. His impressive tenure culminated in a senior executive role in The Post's Advertising and Marketing department. He was awarded the highest honor given to Post employees, The Eugene Meyer Award, for his prominent service. In granting this award The Post said of DeSouza, "He is the very embodiment of integrity, cooperation and judgement - and a master at resolving issues". To learn more, visit or write to
