By: Water Air Food Awards
The Water, Air and Food Awards targets breakthrough low-tech, high impact, local innovations for clean water, clean air and nutritious food. WAFA acknowledges and promotes these low-cost solutions so that they can be replicated and create significant global impact. This year's winning projects include:
- Rainwater Harvesting 30,000 well System, Mazhapolima from India
- Family Health Program Solar Ovens, FUPROSOMUNIC from Nicaragua
- The Fish Farm Project, People and Planet Life Foundation from Nigeria
- Water Explorer Program, Ebomvini Primary School from South Africa
The award winners will receive a certificate of achievement and a WAFA trophy presented by WAFA ambassadors at their project locations, as well as a cash reward transferred directly to their accounts (no middlemen).
Out of 171 applications, the projects were among the 10 finalists selected by a committee of international sustainability experts. The projects were then voted under different categories in the global voting campaign.
"It is an honor for my team and I to award this year's exceptional pioneers. In their own unique way they have produced significant results and continue to positively impact lives in their communities. The growing interest among corporations, governments and grant givers to participate in scaling and replicating these kinds of solutions is heartwarming,"
