By: Nelson and Nelson Antique Listed Price $32,500.00 Pair of Gilded Age sterling silver 5-light candelabra. Made by Gorham in Providence. Each: Tapering and knopped shaft on raised foot with 4 leaf-mounted volute supports. Four leaf-wrapped rinceaux arms, each terminating in single socket with wax pan. Arms have fretwork mounts with leaf-capped scrolls bracketed to baluster terminating in same. Finely executed Neoclassical ornament including acanthus leaves and leaf and dart, and contrasting butler finish. Desirable provenance: "Presented to Margaret Carnegie by the Carnegie Veteran Association April 22, 1919" engraved on underside of one. Margaret Carnegie was Andrew Carnegie's daughter. The association comprised former Carnegie Steel managers, who met for many ears at Carnegie's before transferring to Charles Schwab's. The candelabra were a wedding gift. Hallmarks partly effaced when candelabra were imported to England. Very good condition. Dimensions: H 23 1/4 x W 19 x D 19 in. Total weight: 198 troy ounces.
