Follow on Google News | New Women's Centre Drives Domestic Violence CampaignBy: Frizelle Sunshine The Centre for Women & Co. will be launched on Friday 26 October at Frizelle's Springwood Jaguar and Land Rover dealership. Queensland's Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence Di Farmer will be guest speaker. The new organisation combines over 50 years of experience from both Logan Women's Health and Wellbeing Centre and Working Against Violence Support Services Inc (WAVSS). CEO of The Centre for Women & Co. Stacey Ross said the issue of domestic and family violence had come out of the shadows but the number of women seeking help continued to rise. "We see up to 50 women each day across our three offices who are experiencing domestic and family violence, and last year we saw over 5000 women from the Springwood and Logan areas who needed counselling for grief and loss, relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety or carer stress," Ms Ross said. "By bringing these two services together, we can provide women and their children with more integrated and holistic support, from specialist crisis support and ongoing counselling through to referrals to other support services." General Manager Daniel Bowden said the Springwood Jaguar and Land Rover dealership was proud to support such an important cause. "The Frizelle Sunshine group is passionate about empowering women both within our workforce and in the community," Mr Bowden said. "Our senior management team has been trained to recognise the signs that someone might be dealing with domestic or family violence and to connect them with services such as The Centre for Women & Co. "We look forward to working with Stacey and her team to create safe places for women." *Based on figures provided by The Centre for Women & Co End
