Music Industry Veteran Liebowitz Appointed to The International Hall of Fame Board of Directors

LOS ANGELES - Oct. 24, 2018 - PRLog -- Norman Brander, President of the International Jazz Hall Of Fame, announced that legendary music producer, Shelly Liebowitz is officially joining the Board of Directors for The International Jazz Hall of Fame.  Norman has been involved with the International Jazz Hall of Fame for more than 30 years and serves as the President. He was the Executive Producer of the 1993 Charlie Parker Memorial Foundation Lifetime Achievement Awards for the benefit of the International Jazz Hall of Fame, which included jazz greats Lionel Hampton, Cab Calloway, Al Hirt, Della Reese, Max Roach, James Moody and many others.

In 1996 Mr. Brander was the executive producer of the IJHOF Award Show in Tampa, Florida featuring Jazz legends such as Steve Allen (our Master of Ceremonies for two shows) Lionel Hampton, Rosemary Clooney, Ray Brown, Wynton Marsalis and many others. In 1997 Mr. Brander produced the IJHOF Awards Show featuring legends such as Lionel Hampton, Joe Williams, James Moody, Chaka Khan, Herbie Mann, Nancy Wilson, Nat Adderly, Anita O'Day, Herb Ellis, Ray Charles and many others. In the same year he also produced the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in Moscow, ID featuring Lionel Hampton, Lou Rawls and many others.

In addition to festivals and Hall of Fame induction ceremonies Mr. Brander has also produced several successful jazz theme cruises that featured many of the legends listed above. His passion for jazz and vision for creating a permanent home for the IJHOF  have been an inspiration to everyone involved in this project. The IJHF's mission states that it, "is devoted to preserving the heritage of Jazz Music and introducing emerging generations to this uniquely American musical legacy" and has inducted the biggest names in Jazz. Founded in part with Dizzy Gillespie, its mission also includes impacting future generations by promoting Jazz through Entertainment, Preservation and Education.

The list of impressive inductees encapsulates the most legendary and memorable artists: Louis Armstrong,  William "Count" Basie, Roy "Little Jazz" Eldridge, Edward "Duke" Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, John "Dizzy" Gillespie, Charlie "Bird" Parker, Art Tatum, Clark Terry, Ray Brown, Dave Brubeck, Ray Charles, Rosemary Clooney, Paul Desmond, Stan Getz, Lionel "Gates" Hampton, Al Hirt, Billie Holiday, Charles Mingus, James Moody, Nat King Cole, John Coltrane and Miles Davis are but a few of the dozens of the most influential and historically relevant inducted into the Jazz Hall of Fame.

Liebowitz, who has worked with musical artists as diverse as Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr and Count Basie to John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Mike Pinera and Tiny Tim has produced many charity events, recordings and musical television shows. Mr. Liebowitz was the Executive Producer of "Judy, Frank & Dean" for the PBS Television network. He is currently the CEO of SRI Label Group, which includes SRI Records, SRI Jazz and his own Latin Jazz label, Flamingo Jazz started his music career in the 1960's and has been a lifelong supporter of Jazz throughout his work and life.
