By: TallGrass Spa and Salon The drawings and cards will become an important addition to TallGrass Spa and Salon's Soldier Box care packages which are being prepared for shipment to troops overseas in time for the Christmas season. Supplied with construction paper, markers and crayons, Brooke Huff's Pre-K students and Alicia Needham's second graders made their contribution to the TallGrass campaign to let our troops know they are appreciated – and not forgotten – by creating colorful cards and writing thank you letters. Now in its ninth year, the TallGrass Soldier Box Project has sent more than 1,000 care packages to troops in the Middle East. Soldier Boxes are shipped twice each year – at holiday time and again at Mother's Day/Father's Day – with generous support from spa staff and guests and the entire Evergreen community. Care packages typically contain personal care items, playing cards, paperback books, knitted hats and gloves in winter, cooling neck wraps in summer and – most appreciated – cards and letters. Each Soldier Box serves 10 soldiers, women and men and, when they call or write their thanks, they say the cards and letters are the most important gift, especially those from children. TallGrass's goal for Christmas 2018 is to assemble and ship 250 care packages.
