Davila takes on the role while concurrently serving as a CONCACAF, U.S. Soccer and Soccer United Marketing Team Liaison Officer for the International Champions Cup, and as a PRO Referee Liaison for L.A. Galaxy (MLS) and L.A. Galaxy II (USL) at StubHub Center in Carson (Calif.).
United Premier Soccer League President Leonel Lopez said, "Mr. Cesar Davila has been a great presence in futbol in Southern California for many years, and we're honored to have his support as our new National Hispanic Ambassador of Soccer. There is a great need in the Latino and Hispanic soccer communities to have someone with Mr. Davila's skill set, and we know he will be a tremendous representative of the United Premier Soccer League. We look forward to many years of working with Mr. Davila."
Davila is a native of Guatemala and was first a player in Southern California's Pro Development soccer scene in the early 1980s before dominating it as coach of Los Angeles-based "Los Rojos del Municipal". A USSF referee since 1994, Davila was president of Orange County Soccer League for nine years, and still serves as Vice President of the California Soccer Association South and with AYSO Region 22 as a Coach Administrator.
The PRO Referee Liaison Officer for L.A. Galaxy (MLS) at StubHub Center in Carson (Calif.) since 1998, Davila has been a CONCACAF Team Liaison Officer and Referee Liaison since 1987.
United Premier Soccer League National Hispanic Ambassador of Soccer Julio Davila said, "It's amazing what the UPSL and its members have achieved in such a short period of time, and the UPSL clearly is the proper and future direction of the game at this level. All I've ever done is my work, and to a very professional standard. I plan to do the same to help the UPSL grow with confidence in the Latin and Hispanic communities, and I'm very motivated to get started."
Davila served as Referee Liaison at the CONCACAF Gold Cup Final, and in the same role at the MLS Cup Final in 2008 and 2011. He received the inaugural Ernie Blanco Liaison Award from PRO Referees in 2016.
Davila will promote UPSL's Pro Development structure to Latin and Hispanic-focused clubs that fit with the league's model and continue to work on securing nationwide sponsorships, among his other roles.
