Along with this, studies show that perpetual negative sensationalism causes people to focus on their own current issue or problems, exasperating their initial problem (making a mountain out of a mole hill). This syndrome is called Catastrophizing. Anxiety and sadness are real emotional after effects of constant negative news. No one enjoys being around negative people.
The information you expose to yourself to during the day or night determines the course of your days and night, and since we all have a choice in the matter, Kristi Carter of Global Positive News Network says she hopes to combat the onslaught of negative sensationalism by "producing a positive news network', hence G.P.N.N.
Health Effects of Optimism
According to creditable institutions and several case studies, optimism increases our immunity to disease down to our cellular level. To quote Suzanne Segerstrom, "It is clear that to answer the question of whether optimism is good or bad for immunity: The answer is 'yes'."
This type of thought process has been shown on the Dr. Oz show.
According to the Mayo Clinic, positive thinking has been linked to longer lives, lower rates of depression, better immune function and reduced risk of cardiovascular disease.'
Trail Blazing for G.P.N.N.
"Since we have not found any major news stations that feature positive news as the main content, we have decided to create our own," says G.P.N.N.'s Kristi Carter.
Carter further states, "My solution to the onslaught of negative sensationalism is to produce a positive news network, or Global Positive News Network (G.P.N.N.). G.P.N.N. will feature headline stories from all over the world that have a positive and productive effect on our human existence."
