The Southwest Florida Arts Scene Expands to Asia

NAPLES, Fla. - Oct. 18, 2018 - PRLog -- Collectors of art are intrigued by the work of established and emerging artists found on exhibition in Lee, Collier, Sarasota and Manatee counties. The owner of the Ding Jen Fong restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan is a collector of fine art and over the years has collected numerous highly sophisticated sculptures and paintings from around the world.  He was particularly impressed with the work of Naples artist Tiffany Chang and commissioned her to do a painting to be featured in his restaurant.

The Ding Jen Fong restaurant is one of the hotspots in Taipei and is considered by many to be one of the best sit down tablecloth Cantonese restaurants in the city.  The restaurant is located in a prime location within Taipei.  Specifically, the upscale Da An District within easy walking distance to two Sogo hip departments stores for young people.  People looking for the best clay pot ginger scallion Taiwanese crab seek out the Ding Jen Fong restaurant.

Tiffany Chang has been very involved in the Naples art scene and has exhibited in over 20 juried shows with the Naples Art Association from 2010 to 2018.  What caught the collector's attention were the artist's paintings about the Chinese zodiac.  From humanized animals to cartoons, her art includes several series on Chinese zodiac animals.  The collector wanted the artist to create a painting that represented the fact that he was born during the Year of the Tiger and that he is a sophisticated chef of gourmet Chinese delicacies.

The oil painting created to fulfill this mission ("The Tiger Chef") is a humanized tiger in a high-end restaurant carving a Peking duck.  The face of the tiger is friendly and is intended to welcome customers to the restaurant.  The name of the restaurant is written in Chinese Characters on the chef's hat and apron.  It is also prominently displayed in a red banner on the right side of the painting.  Now all of the patrons of the Ding Jen Fong restaurant will know that the owner is a tiger, which symbolizes bravery and competitiveness.
