PALO IT Australia Emerged Victorious in GovHack 2018 State and Territory Awards

SYDNEY - Oct. 17, 2018 - PRLog -- GovHack 2018 has recently announced the winners of its competition for the State and Territory Awards. An annual event run by volunteers, GovHack is an open-data hackathon that aims to leverage on government data to drive social and economic value. For New South Wales (NSW), PALO IT Australia emerged victorious in the following categories - 'Data4Good' and 'Chatbots are the Future'.

Over a weekend, PALO IT Australia's team, Lucky Shot, identified their problem statement: 'To reduce waiting time in hospitals for people with unexpected injuries' and worked on a solution that will benefit the public. A chatbot, Emi, was built to help make better decisions on the hospitals to go to in times of a medical emergency. This entry was submitted under the categories of 'Data4Good' and 'Chatbots are the Future', alongside 19 and 11 submissions from other teams respectively.

Representing NSW, Lucky Shot will be vying against 58 national finalists from various states of Australia for the GovHack 2018 National Awards happening on Saturday, November 10, 2018.

Introducing Emi, Your Go-to Medical Chatbot

Emi is a chatbot that leverages on data such as hospital wait times statistics, waiting room live queue APIs and Google APIs for travel time to assist users to make best decisions on which hospital to go for, in emergency situations. Essentially, Emi is a companion you can rely on for quicker medical attention.
