By: United Premier Soccer League Based in Deltona (Fla.), Unity Football Club will begin UPSL Women's Division play in the Southeast Conference Florida Division. United Premier Soccer League Florida Division Manager Christian Vallejos said, "We're very excited to welcome Unity FC to the UPSL Women's Division and its new Southeast Conference. Unity FC has a great ownership group and a better structure than a lot of men's teams. We expect them to be the leaders of a movement in Florida, and we wish them the best as they prepare for regular season games starting with the 2019 Spring Season." Mark Ford is co-owner and General Manager of Unity FC. A native of Western N.Y., Ford and his wife, Kristine Ford, moved their young family to Central Florida in 2010. Mark's father, William Ford, also is co-owner of the club. Unity Football Club Owner and General Manager Mark Ford said, "We run our club like a professional program where the girls don't pay for anything, not kits or gear or travel. We do it like it's the highest level of the game or like they do it in Europe, so our girls don't pay a dime. We are anti-'Pay-To- Kristine Ford is Head Coach and Director of Soccer Operations for Unity FC. A goalkeeper in her playing days, Ford was an all-state selection as a high school senior in Western N.Y., and has coached a number of youth academies in Central Florida. She currently is the Head Coach of the Deltona High School girls soccer program. "We realize that there's a demand that the UPSL is filling, and there's a need at this level for young women to have a place to play that fits the same profile as it does for the young men," Ford said. "We've been fortunate. We've got a good program here, with a lot of good people behind us." Unity Football Club is sponsored by Columbus (Miss.)'s Sqwincher hydration products. The club's kits are supplied by Deltona (Fla.)'s Ambroidery. The club is finalizing its venue options, and will soon announce tryout dates and its upcoming game schedule.
