HINGHAM, Mass. - Oct. 11, 2018 - PRLog -- Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance, a South Shore practice specializing in unique programs that provide comprehensive treatment in orthopedic, spine and sports medicine specialties, recently volunteered at the South Shore Seahawks Youth Hockey Jamboree in Hingham to perform functional movement screens (FMS) on young athletes.

The FMS's are comprised of seven tests that help screen for issues that might reduce athletic performance and/or lead to injury. After the tests are performed the results are evaluated and the parents and athletes are provided with a report that includes possible suggestions for corrective measures.

The Seahawks Youth Hockey Program is based on the South Shore and serves youth hockey players in Hull, Norwell and Scituate. They offer programs for both boys and girls and have a learn to skate program.

"Injury prevention is so important for young athletes and has repercussions on their health for life," said Eric Edelman, PT, owner of Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance. "It was a pleasure to work with these enthusiastic athletes and we are always happy to work with young people on ways they can enhance their athletic experience."
