Based in Grand Rapids (Mich.), BiH GR will begin UPSL play in the Midwest Conference East Division. The club will play its UPSL home games at Pat Patterson Athletic Field (2674 44th St. SE, Kentwood, MI 49512) in compliance with UPSL Minimum Standards.
United Premier Soccer League Central Conference Manager Cliff Conrad said, "We're pleased to be growing in Michigan and adding to the already great group of clubs in the Midwest Conference. The UPSL continues to find interested teams in great markets like Grand Rapids, where thriving futsal clubs like BiH GR are already big in their community. BiH GR has had a thriving futsal program for some time and we're sure those skills will translate well to the outdoor arena. We welcome BiH Grand Rapids and wish them the best in preparing for the 2019 Season."
BiH Grand Rapids is owned by Elmedin Zukic and operated by a Board of Directors that includes Anes Suhonjic as General Manager, Mirsad Rahmic as Sponsorship Director, Aldin Balkic as Marketing Director and Emir Candic as Social Media Director.
BiH Grand Rapids captured the title at two small-sided cash-prize tournaments this summer, winning both the Memorial Tournament in London (Ont.) and the Las Vegas (Nev.) Soccer Resort Tournament during one of its most successful seasons to date.
BiH Grand Rapids Owner Elmedin Zukic said, "We have been dominating the indoor game playing an attacking style of soccer with a lot of possession, and we would love to take our style to the outdoor game and try to show how beautiful and exciting the game is when playing this particular way. We also know that there is a lot of talent in the area that does not get to play a lot of competitive soccer once the high school and college season is over. This is a great chance for them to have even more exposure and more experience playing in a competitive league."
Emir Basic, a former professional player and coach in Bosnia in the 1980s, currently serves as Head Coach.
BiH Grand Rapids will host tryouts on at 5 p.m. CT on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018 at MSA Sports Spot (3701 32nd St. SE, Kentwood, MI 49512).
The club soon will announce its upcoming game schedule.
